My Awesome Second Day At Cardigan

        The second day of the Cardigan trip was epic! It was the day when we would hike all the way from the AMC lodge to the top of Mount Cardigan. I was very excited. When Mr. Woolner woke us up at 6:30, we went down to the common area and had hot chocolate. We ended up using our free time to play uno as a huge group. I also played chess against Angelo, Finn, and Miles. Afterwards, a breakfast of bacon, eggs, tater tots, and french toast casserole. It was super delicious. Then we got ready to hike. We grabbed our day packs and lunches. We also grabbed our snacks and hiking boots. We then decided to climb Firescrew and Cardigan from the lodge. We started going to Firescrew. Mr. Woolner came with our group for the day's hike. There was a lot of uphill. There was also a lot of sketching throughout the whole day. Eventually, we found a wild cucumber, which was like a tiny white carrot. It was delicious. Then we kept hiking. After climbing sheer rock and seeing the glacial erratic, my group stopped for a snack of cheez its and oreos. After that, we kept hiking up and up and up. Every time we thought we had gotten to the summit, Mr. Woolner would tell us that it was not the summit and to keep hiking. Eventually, we stopped for lunch. When we finally got to the summit, it was just a lump of rock. We did a little downwards dip and then scaled Cardigan quickly. When we got to the top, we met up with two other groups. We took a group photo and went on our way down to the lodge. When we got down to the lodge, I took a shower and put on comfortable clothes. We had free time and then had dinner. It was burgers, corn, and potato salad. We then had a dessert of homemade rice crispy treats. Afterwards, the lodge owner did a reptile show with his tortoise, ball pythons, and milksnake. I got to hold the tortoise. His name was Ivan. We then went out for a campfire. We made little skits, or plays and told stories. On our way back to the lodge, we star gazed. It was beautiful. We then went in and went to sleep at around 9:45. We had scaled Cardigan!
